What We Do
Resilient Lives creates practical programmes that help people build connection, confidence and resilience through shared activity and supportive community.
Our work focuses particularly on supporting boys and men, while also creating opportunities for young people who struggle in traditional education environments to build confidence, skills and pathways into adulthood.
How Our Programmes Work
Our programmes are built around a simple idea: people develop resilience through meaningful activity, supportive relationships and a sense of connection and contribution.
Rather than focusing only on conversation, we create environments where people work together, share food and take part in practical activities. In these spaces, confidence grows naturally, conversations develop more easily and supportive peer relationships emerge.
Men’s Programmes and Community
Our men’s programmes create spaces where men can connect, reflect and support one another in environments grounded in authenticity and psychological safety.
Programmes such as Dough Bro’s and Ageless Man bring men together through shared activity, conversation and community, creating supportive spaces where men can talk honestly and build meaningful friendships.
Youth Engagement and Development
We run practical programmes that help young people build confidence, connection and a sense of purpose through shared activity and supportive environments.
Many of the young people we work with have struggled to engage in traditional education, including those in alternative provision or with additional needs. Our programmes create structured spaces where they can develop practical skills, confidence and a positive sense of direction.
Employability and Experience
Through our Pizza Pirates social enterprise and related projects, participants gain real-world experience in supportive working environments.
These opportunities help young people develop practical skills, teamwork and confidence while experiencing what a positive workplace culture looks like.
How It Fits Together
Resilient Lives brings together a connected ecosystem of programmes and communities where people can engage at different stages of life and in different ways.
Some young people first encounter our work through youth engagement or employability programmes. Others discover our community through events or through Pizza Pirates, where many people first learn about our wider work.
Men who join programmes such as Dough Bro’s or Ageless Man often become part of the wider Resilient Lives community. Over time some choose to support younger participants, contribute to programmes or train as mentors.
In this way supportive relationships, encouragement and positive role models develop across generations, creating a community where people support one another and contribute to the next generation.
